The Real McCoy's Men's Horsehide Leather Jacket
This A-2 flight jacket from The Real McCoy's rebuilds Rough Wear's iconic 1942 contract number 27752 with the concept of an accurate, unexaggerated original in mind. It's cut from 100 percent horse leather, custom-ordered specifically for this reproduction, and every seam and panel follows the original construction specs. The result is a jacket that captures the surprisingly three-dimensional pattern of the wartime original, right down to the way it sits on the body.
Between 1931 and 1943, eighteen suppliers produced A-2 jackets for the military. Rough Wear Clothing Company was the most famous of them, securing five separate contracts and manufacturing roughly 120,000 of the estimated 750,000 jackets made during that era. The Real McCoy's built its reputation on this kind of research-driven authenticity, and this piece reflects that same obsessive attention to detail.
This men's jacket is brand new, unworn, and ready to deliver a real piece of aviation history with high-grade leathercraft straight from Japan.
The Real McCoy’s A-2 flight jacket, a faithful reproduction of Rough Wear Clothing Co. contract No. 27752 from 1942. Made with specially commissioned horsehide leather, it recreates the original’s components, stitching specifications, and notably three-dimensional period pattern.
